Background Concepts

Still not sure what I want to do for the background.  Since I really want the figure to look good I want to keep the background simple.  I was thinking a column for a few reasons.  I love all things Roman so its an obvious first choice for me.  Also I thought I could spent more time on the textures and less on modeling it.  It would be easier to suggest perspective and distance in the background with a row of columns.

I like the vegetation below.

Costume Concepts

I'm focusing on a bust portrait.  So far I have a few variations on costume, and a little bit of an idea on the background.  I only have the outfits right now.  I like the green and red one on the bottom.  Not sure about the colors.

Post 2

I've decided to go in the direction of a bust.  I will devote a great amount of time to the face and features.  Especially the mouth!  Here are a few examples I found that are especially inspiring.

These are more fantastic, which could be a lot of fun to design and create.  Both are more sexual that I plan to go. But the one on the left is pretty fun!

These three are much more simple, and I think they're beautiful in their simplicity.  This may be the route to go, which would allow me to focus more on the features and less on the accessories.
I like this one best!
I think it's all a matter of budgeting my time correctly.
Tonight or tomorrow I will begin sketching concepts.

Also, I plan to use my face as a reference, while still allowing myself creative leeway. Maybe.

First Post

I haven't been able to present yet, but I am hoping to either build a model of the male form, focusing on the anatomy, and maybe less so on the face, or a few studies of the face.  Here are a few examples of celebrity faces I might model, along with a self portrait.  I have a feeling I may only be able to model two portraits.
